Description: I don't use the term rare often, but this is an extremely rare Alpina Mechanical Calculator in absolutely mint condition. The Alpina (Limited Production 7000) was produced in Germany in 1961. It was designed to compete with the Curta but was unsuccessful. The Curta was mass produced for many years, but there were only a few Alpina calculators made. This Alpina machine (Serial 004178) looks like it just left the factory. The mechanism is smooth with a wonderful action. The cream and gray paint is perfect, not one scratch or mark. The red velvet lined original case with silver and gray exterior is also in near mint condition with a few rust spots on the metal trim. The original English instructions are included in fine condition with some small spots on the front and back cover. This machine is a museum piece, a rare find indeed, perfect for the fine collector.
