VERY RARE KONICA HEXAR PROTOTYPE HALF FRAME 72 CAMERA # : 0000001 / PLEASE READ

Description: Offered to you is the very rare and original Konica HEXAR prototype which has got serial number : 0000001 !!! Please do note that since it's a prototype camera it's a non-functional camera , so not working and you cannot shoot images with it. Still a very collectible and rare camera of course !! Konica has made some truly proper cameras, some of which are considered to be good alternatives to the Leica M. I’m of course talking about the Hexar cameras. First release was the Konica Hexar (AF), later a rangefinder (RF) with interchangeable lenses was introduced. Of the rangefinder version a half frame variation was made in a limited edition of 50, but that variation was never released to the AF version. Hence why this particular camera is so interesting: a working prototype of a half frame Konica Hexar AF. Even though it is a prototype all the necessary adjustments are made. The frame counter counts all the way to 72 and the viewfinder shows an upright composition. Moreover the marking on the side proudly numbered 0000001 completes the uniqueness of the camera. The Konica Hexar enjoys somewhat of a cult status, for good reason! The gorgeous 35mm 2.0 lens fixed to the camera creates amazing results. Not only the results make it a great camera, the workflow successfully combines two of the most popular systems: rangefinder and point and shoot. Practically it operates with the ease of a point and shoot, but everything else reminds the user of a rangefinder. Composing through the viewfinder and feeling the great build quality really puts you in the mindset unique to the rangefinder system. The half frame holds an interesting position in the world of 35mm film. The half frame does exactly what it says, halving the normal size of a 35mm shot to double the amount of shots you are able to get out of a roll. The main advantage is getting more shots out of a single roll of film, but an interesting bonus feature is the vertical framing. Due to the horizontal image being halved, the composition stands upright. As most cameras are more comfortable to hold horizontally the half frame camera holds the advantage in portraiture, a genre where photographs are generally made standing up.
