Description: IT WILL BE A LONG TIME BEFORE YOU SEE ONE OF THESE SHOW UP ON EBAY OR EVEN IN A MAJOR AUCTION. During the 18th and 19th centuries, miniature tea services called, dinette pieces were often given to young aristocratic girls to educate them on how to make and serve tea, so that they could fulfill the adult female role of presiding over the tea table at social occasions. The Sevres factory made few of these pieces and they were made for the rich aristocrats. This Sevres teapot (théière) is a rare and perfect example of gilding and painting done with the importance of a major piece. I find the gilding of special interest because it is a pseudo caillouté type gilding on a bleu nouveau ground and worthy of being in the finest collection. It has been black light tested and I see no issues.Restoration may have been done professionally and maybe at the spout, which is often damaged on teapots. There is one chip on the inside of the teapot lid guard ring that does not take away from the piece. I show an image of it but even the image doesn't show the chip much. Height including lid is 3-1/8 inches. Handle to spout is 4/12 inches. There is a very small uninteresting cup and saucer on a major Sevres dealer's website for 6,500 lbs. Put that in American dollars! Any questions respond from LAST IMAGE. TO LEARN MORE ABOUT THESE PIECES VISIT THE CHITRA COLLECTION.
