Description: VICTORIAN 2 PIECE AFTERNOON VISITING DRESS 1890A 1890s stunning taffeta navy blue colored outfit, 2 piece in construction dress with vertical pleating on either side of front closure and a stand up ruffle on both shoulders.The bodice is decorated with standup ruffles around neckline, around cuffs and bottom of skirt. Bodice is lined with a brown cotton and with no inner stays and has a front hook and eye center closures with many darts to exaggerate the waist. Hand stitched as well as mostly machine sewn.The skirt has a full back sweep with large pleating at back for a nice full fall, double ruffle flounce at hem and lined with a brown chintz cotton lining.CONDITION The outfit is in very good condition. No major discoloration or underarm stains on the bodice, but inside lining, has a very light small area of discoloration. Some shredding in lining of bodice and loose hook and eyes. No repairs. The skirt is in very good condition, with inner lining having shredding in lower area by hem, and has two small discoloration spots. One small water mark in skirt and a ¼ inch rip in skirt.
