Description: VICTORIAN 2 PIECE STRIPED COTTON DAY DRESS, 1900s A turn of the century striped cotton blend beige and brown colored outfit, 2 piece in construction dress with attached brown silk ribbon arrangement on upper sleeves, gathered and pleated brown silk trim ribbon at cuff, and across front yoke bodice. An off white valenciennce lace front collar panel enhances the front, with vertical pleating below to give bust fullness and also found on back. All machine stitched. The bodice is unlined with a back hook and eye side closures. Waist is gathered at back. The skirt has a full back sweep with a nice fall. The skirt is unlined with small cartage pleating at back opening and the same attached brown silk ribbon arrangement. Skirt material is gathered and pleated around lower area of skirt to enhance fullness. CONDITIONThe outfit is in good condition. Bodice has light discoloration underarm stains on the bodice. No fading to material. Has a replacement lace panel to enlarge bodice at back, as seen in photo. Underarms seams have been altered to enlarge. These enlargements can all be easily reduced to original condition by taking out repair stitches and removing hook and eyes and sewing back on to original position. The skirt is in very good condition, with few very small holes scattered about and small stains at hemline. Skirt has snap closures.
