Description: This beautiful Victorian gown is 2pieces and is made from silk bengaline. The bodice is lined in silk and has bones in the seams as well as old underarm guards. It had belonged to the University of Maryland. It has minor damage to the lining under the arms, the tissue silk center front is fair, but the tissue silk making the collar is damaged, there's a few pin head holes in the ivory silk lining the center front panel. It has a black Chantilly lace tie around the neck. The bodice and skirt are trimmed with silk taffeta appliqued flowers and stems and is trimmed with black chenille stitching. Missing a few hooks or eyes, but overall in very good condition. It measures 37 inches around the bust, waist is 30 1/2, across the back shoulder is 13 1/4 and shoulder to center front point is 19 inches. The skirt needs a new waistband and has splits diagonally below the waistband. You could fix it by either shortening it from the waist or putting it on a yoke. The silk taffeta lining has a knife pleated ruffle around the hem and overall the lining is excellent. It has a pad below the waist that needs a few minor repairs to make a little bustle. The hem is coming out in places and the fold line of the hem is frayed through, some minor wear behind the eyes from the hooks catching on the fabric. It measures 28 inches around the waist, hips are 50 and is give a little bustle and is 41 inches long. Please ask any questions prior to bidding. Thank you for looking at my auctions.
