Description: Hi We have here an original Carron cast iron bedroom fireplace which I removed from my house for alterations in 1970 and now I do need to clear things out. I have cleaned it up and polished it with metal polish and it is as perfect as something 125 years old can be, no damage at all. It measures10"D x 14"W x 19.5"H. The others in the house, which are still there, all had pine surrounds but a previous owner had removed this one so it can be fitted with no surround, great in a new house, or a surround could very easily be made. It would work if that is what one wanted. Carron was established in 1759 and by 1814 was the largest iron works in Europe making, amongst other things, cannons for the Royal Navy. It went bust in 1982 but was revived and still operates from Falkirk although much of the production is now in China. I will always combine postage and reduce overseas wherever possible but PLEASE wait for an invoice as eBay no longer seem to allow any reductions after payment has been made.
