The roman soldier carving is white and the background is a burnt orange in color (not black!) As you can see, this is a large statement ring and is unisex in design. Women's pointer or mens pinky. The size suggests it was made for a man (see photos). A real statement ring. Please do review all of the photographs as they are of the actual item you are buying. This ring features a well carved roman soldier cameo on what appears to be a Carnelian hardstone of burnt orange color. Some damage is present to the hardstone as visible in the photographs and described below. See below for more details. Size: 7 Weight: 9.8 grams Hallmarks: None - acid tested and Niton XRF tested Main Stone: Hardstone - Appears to be carnelian (burnt orange in color) Secondary Stones: None Head Size: Approx 20mm wide and 26mm deep with a rise of 8.20mm Shank Size at sizing Area: 1.6mm deep and 1.38mm thick Notable: Chip in the hardstone to the right of the nose. Some flea bite edge chipping to the hard stone. One "row" of decor missing from the soldiers plume. My camera struggled catching the background color of the stone. It is a burn orange. High polished surface has a really nice mirrored reflection of the cameo. Just a well executed carving that pops off the ring.
