Description: This is a victorian era, "Meteor Lamp Company", hanging oil lamp with a large, 13-7/8", cranberry hobnail glass shade. IT HAS BEEN CONVERTED TO ELECTRICITY. This lamp was manufactured between 1895 and 1900, in Meriden, CT.The lamp itself is brass. It has heart shapes on the brass shade support, and heart shaped leaves on the oil tank. There is even a brass heart on the two support chains. I believe the glass shade is original to the lamp. I looked it up, and found a few similar ones, and they have the same shade. There is a brass accent crown for the lamp shade.NOTE: THE BRASS CAP AT THE TOP IS SETTING UPSIDE DOWN. IF YOU LOOK AT THE LAST PICTURE YOU CAN SEE HOW IT WILL FIT TO THE CEILING.This lamp is set up to be wired directly into the ceiling. It DOES NOT have a plug. My husband rewired it completely. It is set up for a regular size light bulb. When it was manufactured it had crystal prisms hanging from the brass shade holder. I just purchased this lamp and it came with a few, modern era crystals. I will include them with the purchase. I also cleaned all of the brass. I tried to remove all of the build up that has occured over time. It is nice and shiny now, but still has antique character. NO RETURNS UNLESS NOT AS DESCRIBED OR PICTURED. INSURANCE WILL BE PROVIDED FOR SHIPMENT.
