Victorian Pewter Tankard Mug VR 1 Quart Size Circa 1820-1850s England

Description: Up for bid is an original vintage pre-owned Victorian Pewter Tankard Mug VR 1 Quart Size Circa 1820-50s England. Found at an estate sale of a collector of old pewter. A fine double "C" handled tulip export Pewter mug or tankard. This is a nice piece of English pewter that dates to the 1820s - 1850s era when Victorian pewter was stamped with the Queen's mark in England of the crown and VR for Victoria Regina. It also has the number 300 under the VR mark that represents it was from Cambridge University. The M & W (Measures and Weight Mark) ended in 1856. There are other marks and stamps on the tankard a couple that might mean be that it was reinspected. It is about 6 1/2 inches tall and about 4 1/4 inches diameter at the base. It’s in good condition with no holes or cracks, a few light dings, and the patina is original - I have not cleaned it. A lovely piece of antique pub pewter! It is also stamped with a crowned 'X' mark on the side with other information that is hard to make out other than one word “Imperial”.
