Description: An over-the-top Victorian silver plate slop with a Renaissance Revival design. I like the details, such as birds, flowers and cameos with ruffed collars. The slop has a round body that rests on four raised feet. It was meant to hold the spent tea leaves from a pot of tea at a formal Victorian setting. The slop has chaste floral designs on the body and a repousse band above with cameos, birds, and flowers. The mark on the center of the base reads WILCOX SILVER PLATE Co. with an emblem of crossed hammers. There is the wording QUADRUPLE PLATE above this mark and the production number of 150. MEASUREMENTS 5 ½” (14.0 cm) diameter x 5 ¼” (13.3 cm) tall. Weighs 1 lb 4.4 oz (580 g) CONDITION The slop lists to one side and the bottom is dented above the legs. There is a dent also on this side on the lower body. There is some silver left and the piece still has a shine. A tour de force of the Victorian era aesthetics. You could always angle it towards your guest to make it easier for them to drop the spent tea leaves into. (It could probably be straightened too) ITEM: S-4189 Larry and Bob want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase and so we offer hassle free returns within 30 days.
