The VHD-PC2HN allows you to connect PC / laptop through a wired or wireless network to put video / desktop on HDTV or VGA monitor. You can connect the PC / laptop to the VHD-PC2HN unit directly with an Ethernet cable or through a wire / wireless router. A wired connection can support CAT5e/CAT6 range up to 100m between VHD-PC2HN and the router. You can connect one HDTV to the VHD-PC2HN with a HDMI cable, or connect a computer monitor using the provided VGA cable. Only one physical connection is allowed, either HDMI or VGA. In the same network (sharing the same router), the single VHD-PC2HN can be used by all PCs (with software installed) on the network, but only ONE PC can have the control at any time. This is a great feature for conference / meeting; it enables different networked PCs / Laptops to use the same projector / HDTV / Monitor in sequence, without the need for disconnecting / reconnecting cables. The VHD-PC2HN has two USB ports for keyboard / mouse / USB drive connections. This allows the users to operate a remote PC and operate the HDTV / monitor for entertainment / work. For example, with this product, you can use your office PC downstairs, as long as you can have an Ethernet connection to the office PC directly or through a router, for remote application. Or it can be easily used as a PC to HDTV (up to 1080p) or monitor adapter to utilize the RJ45 Ethernet port on the PC or laptop to conveniently add another display unit to expand desktop screen space. VHD-PC2HN supports Microsoft Window XP, Window 7 and Window 10. It does NOT support Window Vista. It does NOT support Window Vista. 1) Install software: two files (Window Driver Setup and Control Software Setup), then reboot PC 2) Connect devices, must share the same wired/wireless router, power up display unit, select proper input. 3) "Lunch USB Server" (Icon Appears on Desktop) 4) In USB Server screen: Select "Display" then click "Connect Device" to connect to HDMI / VGA display. This should bring up video to the remote display Use screen resolution to position this external display 5) Connect Media Device (Speak/sound) for audio (AFTER the Display is connected) 6) Then the remote Display (TV) should have video (Please use youtube to verify) 7) There will be no sound at the remote display (TV) if Display is not connected, even if Media Device is connected. 8) Always disconnect the Media Device FIRST, before disconnecting the Display If no sound: a) Make sure the PC headphone Jack is not occupied. If the PC's headphone jack is plugged in, the headphone will take the priority, then the remote display (TV) will not have sound. b) Always connect the Display first, then connect the sound (Media Device); if you connect the Media Device first, you may not have sound. Always disconnect the Media Device first, before disconnecting the display. The sequence is important, if not sound, disconnect both display and media device, connect display first, then connect the media device. 3) If still can't get sound, please reboot the PC + power reset the unit. 4) You may need to disconnect the Media Device (sound) before using other audio features of the PC, such as voice call over MSN. For VGA Output to Computer Monitor Support Computer Monitor with VGA Input, ONLY use the provided VGA cable, other VGA cables may NOT work. Not all the VGA/SVGA cables are built the same, many (actually most) VGA cables don't have monitor ID pins connected to the cable, they are not Plug-n-Play. This type of "reduced version" of VGA cables can be easily verified when they are used to connect an external display unit. In "Screen resolution" window, the external display will show as "Generic Non-PNP Monitor", instead of a positive identification of the display unit. We sampled 4 different SVGA/VGA cables from 4 listing / sellers, 3/4 cables we received don't pass monitor ID / EDID. For the VHD-PC2HN unit, if the VGA display unit does not identify itself with its EDID / monitor ID info, then the unit will NOT activate the VGA output. VGA output will support HDTV is the TV has EDID setting of the TV's VGA Port, not all TVs have EDID info in their VGA input ports. There is why VGA should work on monitors, but no guarantee it will work on HDTVs. If your HDTV works with VGA input, congratulations, your TV is compatible. When switcher between VGA output and HDMI output, only one of them can be connected (the one not in use, must be disconnected). First, exit the USB Server Application on the PC, then power down the VHD-PC2HN using the power button, connect either HDMI or VGA output on the VHD-PC2HN, power on the TV or monitor. Second, connect the VGA cable, then power on the VHD-PC2HN. Start the USB Service Application on the PC, it should detect the display and media devices, first, connect the display, then connect the media for sound. For remote use and control of the PC, it is best to use duplicated / clone mode, so that the TV and PC monitor are identical, then you can your the TV as the PC monitor remotely. (On Window 7, use Screen Resolution, Win+P) It supports USB storage device, and will show up in USB Server as a "Storage", select the storage device then click on "Connect Device" to access the USB storage device.
