Description: This beautiful large vase in rhombic shape is made in Sommerso technique, which was only invented in the second half of the 1930s by Carlo Scarpa for the Venini & C. manufactory. This is glass that is covered with another layer of colorless or differently colored glass. This technique was adopted by many other manufacturers, who achieved very different results. This vase probably comes from Flavio Poli, from Murano, Italy around ca. 1960 - 1970. The vase is a real work of art. The inner layer of dark grey glass (sg smoked glass) is covered by a layer of transparent glass. The bottom and sides are hand sanded. The vase is a real gem in any ambience and a real eye-catcher! The vase is approx. 10 3/4” high. Ideal for a medium sized bouquet. It is in excellent well-kept used condition, showing very little wear and no cracks or chips, which is unusual for its age!
