Description: You are bidding on a vintage 1919 snapshot photograph (approx. 4.25” wide X 2.5” high). The photo shows pair of dancers, in their costumes at a amusement park: there is a wooden roller coaster, a man in straw boater hat, and a boy, running at full sprint, in the background. (I have seen similar photos on ebay, believe or not, that have attributed the location to Riverview Park in Chicago, Illinois; however, I cannot verify this completely). The dancers, from what I have been able to gather, were members of a traveling dance/ballet/opera troupe that originated in Chicago, Illinois. (I acquired the photo in a group that is attributed to one of the troupe's dancers: Bettsie/Betsie/Bettsy/Betsy Lingle. In her correspondence, she wrote of leaving for the “Big City” to begin rehearsals for the upcoming “Opera Season.” She was staying in Highland Park, Illinois, at the time). The penned annotation on the front of the photo reads: Elsie (illegible surname) & Myself - Till We Meet Again - 1919; the back of the photo gives details on the costumes they were wearing (there is light paper loss on the rear of the photo, and on the right hand border, where it was removed from a photo album page; this does not effect the overall integrity of the front of the photo). Buyer pays 3.00 S&H. *I also have a few similar photos, various sizes, currently listed on my other auctions. These are all original, period photos, not reprints.
