Description: Here we have an orignal vintage "National Ski Patrol" uniform lot. Super neat military warfare collectibles, which belonged to a Mr. K.R. Johnson. I think these items are from the U.S. Army's National Ski Patrol light infantry 10th Mountain Division. It was believed that the U.S. should train specialized soldiers to fight in winter and alpine conditions. In 1941 the National Ski Patrol was appointed by the U.S. Army to recruit and vet soldiers, in addition to assisting in training for new troops. This lot may be from WWII-era 1940s, or if not that then maybe early 1950-1970s. The lot includes: the National Ski Patrol coat/jacket, the original bag, original boots, undershirt, over shirt, three pairs of wool socks and wool gloves. The jacket is a nice piece, and even has a backpack-type feature connected to the back of the jacket, which would have been used to carry additional military grear. The lot also includes the original alumni association and application paperwork. The jacket looks very similar to the Swiss Army m70 alpenflauge parka, all the details down to the load bearing system on the back, but I've never seen this pattern before. The Swiss used this parka design right after WWII and used a very reddish fall camouflage for everything. I'm assuming the U.S. worked with the Swiss military to develop some of this uniform, which would make sense since the Swiss would be experts in that area. You can almost see the original Swiss camo pattern on it, only it is dyed black. There's not a great deal of information for a lot of posted WWII military gear (especially snow gear like this) because they changed things up so much from the 1940s to the 1970s. Everything looks to be in good overall condition for its age, as you can see from the photos. Please look over the photos to gauge condition and to know what you are getting.
