Description: Grab your saddle shoes and bobby socks... Probably THE most iconic symbol of 1950's youthful fashion, is the 'poodle' skirt. This homemade piece does one better, and kicks it up a level with a faux fur leopard print kitty cat appliqué! I die. Most likely made from a home-kit pattern, I feel that the cartoonish flair of this leopard cat may have been done with some artistic license. Just look at those extra large, alert, light green sequin eyes and gold rick rack (zig-zag) trim leash. Main body of skirt is a semi-heavy weight wool felt, and is unlined and without pockets. The hem is a raw-cut edge, the waist is finished inside with a grosgrain ribbon and the left side has a metal zipper closure plus hook + eyes (may be adjusted/let out for an extra inch max). Overall condition is excellent, with three small repaired holes and one small spot of discoloration (two of the holes and spot of discoloration are just under waist at front -perhaps a dropped cigarette?, the other hole is at back nearish to hem). Completely handmade with only label reading original owner's name and address 'M.J.Hubbard, Cedar Rapids, Iowa'. Please note: skirt did not fit correctly on my dress form, therefor it gives it an uneven or "wonky" appearance but I can attest that the hem is even and straight!
