Description: ***********The AS 1916 automatic movement runs about 7 hours fast by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. Both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is long overdue and recommended.***********This vintage 1970 Caravelle came from the estate of its original owner. The blue "T SWISS T" signed dial has aged naturally and the lume, which no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "CARAVELLE - SHOCK RESISTANT - STAINLESS STEEL - AUTOMATIC - ANTI MAGNETIC - WATER RESISTANT" with "N0" stamped along the inner edge. The inside of the case back is stamped "MXF" followed by "823,""CARAVELLE WATCH DIVISION,""BULOVA WATCH Co" and "SWISS." The crystal should be replaced as there is a gouge/scratch/crack at approximately the 4 o'clock mark. The 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "CARAVELLE WATCH,""11 UKACB" and "N1" stamped AS 1916 automatic movement with quickset date function runs strong, albeit fast, with both the day and date wheels rolling over. The day wheel tends to take until approximately 12 pm to align properly in the window. The quickset date function works flawlessly by pressing in on the crown until the desired date has been reached. This movement does not have a quickset day function. After recently winding the original, signed non-screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement gained about 7 hours by the end of its approximate 43 hour power reserve period. The crown winds buttery smooth. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is likely long overdue and recommended. This watch measures approximately 35 mm excluding the crown, approximately 38 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the mid-case, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10.5 mm. Given that the movement runs fast and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is recommended. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 16 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
