The clock is powered by a quartz movement and operates with 2 AA batteries. Batteries are not included. Betty Legs Sway with the movement of the clock. I did notice sometimes they stop swinging but start again when you give them a slight nudge. This clock is in great shape and is in tested-working order. As shown in the pictures, in the clock area there is a very small strip that is lighter in color. The last picture shows this area compared ro a dime.
