Vintage 1989 Fall Runway Isaac Mizrahi Red Cashmere Wool Tartan Plaid Pants 80's

Description: Incredible vintage Isaac Mizrahi red cashmere and wool tartan fleece pants from the iconic Fall/Winter 1989 collection, as modeled on the runway by Roshumba Williams. It was in 1989 that Mizrahi was awarded his second CFDA award, this time for Designer of the Year in Womenswear. The pants feature an oversized waist that cinches with a belt into a paper bag style, hip pockets, and wide legs with fringed hem. The fleece is soft and luxurious, and fully lined in red silk. The black leather belt with white contrast stitching shown in the photos was found with the pants and will be included. The "kilt dress" from this 1989 collection, fashioned in the same cashmere/wool textile with fringe accent, is held in the Metropolitan Museum of Art collection (accession number: 1991.315.2a-c). Several other tartan pieces from this collection were displayed in the exhibition "Isaac Mizrahi: An Unruly History" at the Jewish Museum in New York City.
