Description: An interesting clay ware teapot from the Yixing region of China, likely dating to the 1990's. This teapot is made of Yixing clay and has a wonderful design - a very realistic and stylized depiction of a shell forms the body of the teapot. The body is made of traditional beige color clay with a speckle painted pattern. The spout, handle, and lid top are a deep orange-red (almost terra-cotta color). The lid is expertly cut into the teapot...very well done as the seams are very faint. The teapot bears the artist's stamp on both the underside of the lid and the back of the handle. CONDITION: Excellent condition with no chips or cracks to the clay. Only very minor wear visible to the underside of the feet simply from resting on surfaces. It has never been used for tea-service...only as a display piece. SIZE: 6." in length from back of handle to tip of spout, 4" in width across the shell shaped body, and 3" in height to the top of the lid.
