In 1914, a new manager started working there to which Mr. Penfield leased the hotel to due to his poor health. The hotel was advertised to hold 150 guests and had both hot and cold running water as well as first-class rooms. In 1936, The Algonquin was the headquarters for the 225 hydroplane class boats to race in the Gold Cup Races. A special 120’ dock was constructed in front of the hotel to house the racer boats. In 1947, the hotel was again sold to Erma Boyce and John Bennett. The hotel burned in 1959 as a result of arson. Edward Pitcairn was said to have set the hotel on fire because he wanted the tourists to leave so they could have the lake to themselves again. He later turned himself in. The hotel was never replaced after the fire, and the land was sold and subdivided. The item measures approximately 3.25" X 6.5" (Folded), approximate shipping weight 3 ounces.
