Description: This beautiful brass candlestick holder is called a chamber stick as it was designed for heading to the chamber pot in the darkness of night or the outhouse in later years. It has a candlestick holder with a large drip tray that can also hold matches and a finger loop with a thumb rest for easy carrying through the darkness. A beautiful piece in a colonial design. Definitely vintage exact dating is more complicated. My guess is 60's or 70's. It is solid and has a nice weight to it as well. A very nice quality piece. There looks to be a mark on the screw that may be a crown with a shield inside it. It is difficult to see with a loop but it appears to be impressed. It also could be nothing just a happy accident. This has natural patina and has not been polished. Some like polished brass some like patina. Those that no brass and bronze know that patina is best left and to just clean with a damp cloth, but those who own it can do what they like, because although I know about the patina I grew up in the polish it shiny world and that is my preference. Shhhhh don't tell the collectors. LOL. Happy Shopping!
