Description: Up for bid is a vintage book, "For The Bride." This 125-page hardback apparently was given to prospective brides when they applied for a marriage license, "with sincere best wishes" from Frank C. Grange, then County Clerk in Evansville, Indiana. This book belonged to Eva Paulie, who married Roy Foster in the fall of 1923 in Evansville. The book is a nostalgic look back at their marriage and life together. It includes many clippings that detail when family members and friends were born, married and passed away. The bride signed the front cover and filled in information on the pages marked Our Marriage,Wedding Guests, Wedding Gifts, Our New Home (at 2021 E. Missouri Street), Our First Thanksgiving, Our First Christmas, Favorite Recipes, etc. This book also features many local vintage ads and helpful hints, such as "How To Cook Vegetables," "When You Entertain" and "Using Electrical Equipment." This book is well-used. It is in good condition; the binding is loose because much of the spine is gone. However, it is all intact. It is a wonderful look back at days gone by, and a fun read. This felt-backed clipboard measures 5 1/2 by 9 5/8 inches and has a hole at the top where it can be hung. It also has a calendar that can be adjusted easily as the months change. This rare clipboard is in good to very good condition, with some surface scratches (see photos). It was given to customers of Tri-State Ford in 1949. This item would make a wonderfuil addition to any collection of Evansville, Ford or advertising memorabilia. See my listings for other vintage items.
