Description: Here we have a very nice bird; a Canadian Goose Decoy, made in the manor of the New Jersey school of decoy carving. It is a working decoy; carved from wood, hollowed out and the halves re-attached. The Goose bears a mixture of original and the hunters working re-paint in various areas, and now with all original hardware below removed. (One can see where the original lead sheet pad was nailed in place, as well as the tie line.) The bird is in good working condition, with rubs and scuffs to paint, and a patina appropriate to its hard working life and age. A beautiful piece of sculpture from the South Jersey Shore Region.
