Wonder Books started in 1947 and were printed into the 1970s. They were designed with a one-piece wrap-around cover which resulted in a high percentage of the books having spine cracking and and/or peeling damage after some use. All of the listed books have no spine damage unless noted in the listing. There are three types of back covers which indicate the age of the book. The earliest printings showed a list of book titles and numbers on the back cover (Back Cover #1). The last title issued with this back cover was book #528. The next group of books had only the Wonder Books logo on the back cover with "Wonder Books" and the children's hair printed in black ink (Back Cover #2). The last 42 page book with the #2 back cover was #537. First printings starting with #538 had 32 pages. The third group of books also had only the "Wonder Books" logo but the entire logo was printed with a grayish-yellow ink (Back Cover #3). Each listing has photos of these three types of back covers and will state in the narrative whether the book has "Back Cover" # 1, 2 or 3 in order of viewing the 3 photos left to right.
