It is unknown what the purpose of the battery is - this item is UNTESTED - the battery contacts are corroded. Santa measures approximately 12 inches tall and does stand up freely as shown. He is in good preowned condition overall but does show signs of age with some discoloration as expected with a vintage piece. His face is absolutely adorable with those bright blue eyes and rosy cheeks!
