Description: THANKS FOR CHECKING OUT MY AUCTION. Conn Ltd. tenor saxophone. It is a model 10M, more commonly known as a 'Naked Lady' due to the iconic engraving on the bell. This is a first generation 10M, which features rolled tone holes. The serial number is 316,xxx, which indicates a c.1946 production date. This is the epitome of a "player's horn". If you are looking for a primo collector's 10M, this is not it! This horn has been played hard, overhauled multiple times, relacquered and buffed (probably multiple times), and has had a few minor modifications done to it. There is, however, a reason this horn has reached this state, and it is because it is a great player! It has a huge resonant tone that just fills the room. If you are more concerned with playability than collectability, then this could be just the horn for you! This horn is in great playing condition. It has been overhauled in the not-too-distant past. The pads are in very good condition and sealing properly with a light touch. They are all matching in style, with domed metal resonators. The keys must have been swedged during this last overhaul, because there is no 'slop' or 'play' in the mechanics...everything feels nice and tight, like a brand-new horn. Of course, you may want to have this adjusted to your own preferences by your own tech, but most players will find it more than acceptable as is. Physically speaking, this horn is in very good condition. The body is straight, and the neck does not appear to have ever been pulled down. The neck tenon slides easily into the receiver, but it won't budge once the screw is tightened. There are some minor pings and nicks (mostly on the bow), and a few spots where the metal is a little bit lumpy/stretched from some previous dent work, but there are no significant dents or dings. The curvature of the bow guard has not been distorted. The rim of the bell has not been bent. There are a couple resoldered key-guard feet, but they are barely noticeable. There is an added brass plate soldered next to the thumb hook, but I'm not sure why. I felt around on the inside of the bore there and it feels smooth, so I don't think it is covering damage. Maybe someone was worried about excessive wear at that point, or maybe they just wanted to build it up level to the thumb hook as a matter of personal preference. There is also a small patch on the neck where a microphone pickup was removed. All of the keys are moving freely, and rebounding properly, and all of the rollers are turning. As far as cosmetics go, this horn definitely isn't going to win any beauty contests. The lacquer is completely gone, so the unprotected brass has tarnished. This horn has definitely been relacquered in the past and buffed in the process (probably multiple times). The engraving is very faint. The edges of the mother of pearl key touches are worn down from significant use over many decades. This sax comes in a modern Gator brand plastic shell case. The case is in very good condition. There is no damage to the outer shell. There is minimal wear and tear to the interior, and it is odor free. There is no mouthpiece, nor any other accessories included, except for a plastic end plug. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Thanks again for looking! CElot
