Description: Excellent True Vintage very late 1940s or early 1950s Knox, Beaver Fifteen, Gray Fedora, Size 7-3/8. This was worn but less than a handful of times! Just look at the pictures! This is a True Vintage Beaver Fifteen! It’s extremely soft and thick beaver! The Leather Sweatband is completely and securely attached and still soft and pliable. It’s in near pristine condition! There are NO MOTH BITES OR STAINS ON THE BEAVER!You can see that this has been worn a handful of time and stored away. If you look at the leather sweatband it’s in near PRISTINE condition! The Reed has NO wear at all! The Reed is where the leather sweatband attaches to the beaver and that’s where you’d find wear if there was any. It’s not anything like any newer Beaver Fifteen but a True Vintage Beaver Fifteen! It’s extremely soft and pliable! This hat has EVERYTHING you look for in a great hat. This is an excellent near Pristine fedora hat! Rarely found in such OUTSTANDING condition! It’s perfectly shaped! It’s a real looker! That wide brim really stands out!We turned the leather sweatband so we could see the undertag. It’s there but the sewn lining is hiding the top half so we didn’t take a picture of it.You can see that this is a very very late 1940s (1948-9) though 1951 because there is a thin plastic “Onion Skin” (see pictures) type overlay on the liner, That happened until the late 1950. Afterwards it would have had a thin plastic liner cover. It still completely intact with NO cracks or Breaks. You can still easily read it and if we push down that opaque part it’s also easily readable. It states,” KNOX CUSTOM KNOX NEW YORK.This is a Brown color and the picture of the whole underside, without the hat box, best reflects the actual color. The pictures of the whole underside is the best representation of the actual color, still not perfect but the closest we could get. All the others are coming out to light. We just don’t know why it’s coming out that way in the pictures? Not sure why we can’t get the color to always come out consistently? Anybody out there has any suggestions? This is out of Dads hat collection. Dad and Grandson tried to brush it off to clean it but there was NOTHING to clean! It’s near pristine!Just so you know the leather sweatband is completely and securely attached all the way around! The leather has NO breaks, chips or cracks! There are No Moth Bites or Stains on the Beaver! The liner is completely attached and still very clean! We took out Dad’s own collection of Knox Beaver hats: Ten, Fifteen, Twenty and TwentyFive. And this is a perfect match of the Beaver Fifteen! It’s so easily steam shaped and hold that shape until it’s steamed again. But it’s so beautiful this way we are leaving it as is. If you wanted just a simple center dent ( you can the do your own hand bashing) you can write to us and ask Dad to reshape it. The best way really to determine the Beaver quality is when steam shaping a hat. When you touching and feeling how soft, thick and pliable it really is.Note: This was found along with 2 other hats inside that 1940s Yellow Knox hat box but this has no hat holding insert set and the underside is broken. There were 3 fedoras inside that hat box, the other one is a KNOX Twenty Fedora, see other listings for some outstanding vintage hats! This hat box is not worthy of shipping. So NO hat box. So Dad has replaced it with that yellowish 1950s - early 1960s and beside the top’s top edge having some paper wear the rest of the box is still in great condition. This has its original hat holding insert set too. Well worthy of storing the hat inside and displaying. Also missing one side strap. We added pictures of the hat box towards the end. NOTE: Shipping outside the continental USA is with the hat box. It’s a bit more expensive to ship. If you do NOT the want the hat box you MUST write us before you buy the hat so we can adjust the shipping dimensions. The hat box is nearly 16 inches long so this does require a Large shipping box and will cost s few dollars more than we normally charge. We NEVER ship the hat box without it being inside a shipping box! Folks have asked but we don’t want anything to happen to the hat box, it’s so much safer this way.The perfect teardrop crown is all original to this hat! And the dip on the front brim is perfect. This is a hat folks will notice! Not many folks will have this one. It’s so very hard to find these anywhere and in such OUTScondition is rarely found! With a coat trolley string is you’d like? Read below and write to us if you’d like it? This can be left as just a decoration or actually any decent tailor can sew it on. It’s very elastic and has plenty of length to have it sewn to the hat or just trim off the end of the elastic string if you just want it for a decoration? Dad has quite of few of these coat trolley strings that are listed here on eBay for sale. If you need one look through his listings. It just adds a nice bit of class to any hat! If you’d like a coat trolley string? Dad has a collection of 1960s old dead stock. He has these listed here on eBay in his listings. So take a minute to look at the ads and tell us if you’d like a brown one? We think the brown one goes best with this fedora. These are very elastic and any decent tailor can sewn it to the hat or it can be left as a decoration. If you’d like to add this coat trolley string for another $13, please write to us and let us know.If you have any questions please write us.DetailsThere is a tag that states size 7-3/8 and this measures to Perfect 7-3/8 at 23-1/8 inches. We still actually measure each hat 3 times to verify its true size.Back before 1970 there was no hat sizing standardization. That came about when the Tilley Hat Sizing Chart was agreed upon.Size 7-3/8 or 23-1/8 inches or 59Length 11.75 inchesWidth 10.25 inchesHeight 4.9 inches at the tallest pointBlack Grosgrain Ribbon 1.9 inches, as my grandson is inspection it closely, since Dad and I did NOT see it he says there is a tiny water spot. It’s really hard to see and we tried taking pictures but the picture just don’t show it. All the closeup pictures we took just blurred it out. Looks at the last picture we took inside the home. We know it’s barely visible. If you have any questions please write to us.Brim 1.85 inchesPictured is the original feather, it’s still in good condition, not perfect but still nice.Rare to find these in such excellent condition. He has collected for 60 something years now and it is time to sell them.
