Description: Antique Griswold Cast Iron Slant Logo 2980A Plett Pan Made between 1909 and 1920. The pan measures 9.5” across, and sits flat with no rocking on a stone countertop. Pletts are traditional 3” round Swedish pancakes which are baked from runny batter, the 7 indentations in the pan hold the batter in place to prevent runoff. Swedes came to the U.S. en masse in the 19th Century, and brought their traditional recipes with them. Griswold creating this special pan, to serve that community. Looking closely, a small gap in the iron can be seen in one of the indented circles. This was created by an air bubble when the pan was made. It fortunately does not affect the usability of the pan, and it is not at risk of growing larger and penetrating through to the other side of the pan. It’s comparable to a birthmark.
