Description: VINTAGE HELEN KING BOYER “GROVE OF SORROWS” ON SLATE. RARE. This offering is for one (1) vintage” Grove of Sorrows” carved in slate by Helen King Boyer. She was a friend of the family in Kansas City, Missouri and we received 2 carvings that she had done. This particular one is 12-1/2” tall and 8” wide and 1/4” thick. It is mounted on a wood board. Information concerning this piece is attached to the back of the wood board. Helen King Boyer’s work is displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Georgetown University, the National Gallery of Art, Carnegie Museum of Art and Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She was born in Pennsylvania on 1919 and passed away in Kansas City, Missouri in 2012. She demonstrated slate drawings at the annual Gem and Mineral Show during her lifetime. It is in excellent condition and has been for years in a smoke-free environment.
