Description: Sebago is a town in Cumberland County, Maine with a population of 1,719 at the 2010 census and sits on the shores of Lake Sebago. Originally called Flintstown, it was granted in 1774 by the Massachusetts General Court to survivors of Captain John Flint’s company of soldiers from Concord Massachusetts. In 1802, Flintstown was incorporated as Baldwin, before, in 1826, Segbago was set off, and incorporated as a separate town. Sebago Lake is the deepest and second-largest lake in the state of Maine. The lake is 316 feet deep at its deepest point, with a mean depth of 1010 feet. It covers about 45 square miles in surface area, has a length of 14 miles and a shoreline length of roughly 105 miles. The lake is drained primarily by the Pressumpscot River. The lake and rivers were an early transportation corridor from the coast to the interior and encouraged the first incorporated European settlement of interior Maines. In 1938, the state of Maine purchased and opened Sebago Lake State Park as one of its original five state parks. The park now consists of 1,400 acres, is open year-round. The lake also contains numerous summer camp option for children of all ages, but I could not find any information on Camp Kennington, past or present. It is, however, on this postcard with an image from the lake, of cabins in the trees, with the caption, “Tents among the Pines, Camp Kennington, Sebago Lake, ME”. The card was postmarked 1915 in “South Casco, Me” and is in excellent condition with minor wear and a clean, clear image. The reverse is neatly written on and is clean. The colors on the card may vary due to the scanner settings and screen projections.Unless otherwise noted, I use Wikipedia, Playle's and Metropostcard for research and try to be as accurate as possible. Corrections appreciated. If this your card, it will be mailed promptly upon receipt of payment......
