To use it, you'll need to bend down a smaller side of it, which opens the case. After you picked up a cigaret and close the lid, it automatically opens the lighter and ignites it simultaniously. After you light up a cigaret the lighter's lid should be closed manually by hand. To fill up the lighter itself you'll need to pull out the inner part when the Cigarette Case is closed but the lighter's lid is opened. There are two screw caps on the fuel chamber. The bigger one is for liquid fuel, and a smaller one is for flint. There is a flint in the lighter and it sparks properly but to start using it you'll need to add fuel first. Since this item is more than 70 years old it has signs of wear on it. As you can see on the picture the cigarette case has only one rubber strap, the second one is lost, but it is not complicated to replace it with a similar one. The Engraving on this case means nothing, and It was created by KW Company to a certain client and there are many different types of engraving designs on such models of cigarette case. In this situation I assume that clients initials were V V or W or it is just one of the standard design of the company. The company eventually phased out its operations in the latter half of the 20th century, likely due to changes in market demands and the rise of other manufacturing techniques and materials. However, Karl Wieden products have remained desirable in the antique and vintage markets, especially for collectors of smoking memorabilia.
