Description: These vintage watercolor prints (published by M.A. Donohue & Co. of Chicago Ill. and originally painted by Walter Alois Weber) were used as classroom visial aids in the 1950s and 1960s. This rare set is titled Animal Ancestors and includes nine images titled as follows: 1. Przewalsky's horse is the only true wild horse.2. The moufflon was formerly widespread in Europe.3. Some domestic cattle are derived from the zebu.4. The wild boar has handsome striped young.5. The Somali wild ass is a graceful creature.6. The native wildcat was tamed in ancient Egypt.7. The European wildcat.8. Jackals on a kitchen midden.9. Our ancestors hunted the aurochs. This set of images was stored for decades in an elementary school library archive. The images are print copies of beautiful watercolors and would have been checked out by teachers to use as visual aids during lessons. These appear to have received light use and are still in the original package (see images). This is a must-have for any vintage collection of classroom memorabilia.
