Description: This is a pre-1960 Masters academic gown with a Master of Science hood from Ohio State University. OSU's official hood lining is scarlet with a gray chevron, as described here: http://intercollegiate-registry.org/ohio-state-university/ Also included is a folding mortarboard with black tassel. This ensemble was manufactured by C.E. Ward Company using ribbed cotton. These are vintage articles of academic costume that are over 60 years old, so they may need cleaning and small repairs. The length of the gown is 50 inches from neck to hem. The gentleman in the photograph above is 6 feet tall. Please take note of these measurements to determine whether this gown will fit you. You will notice that the Master's gown has sleeve openings at the elbow, which is a characteristic of Master's gowns manufactured before 1960, when the sleeve opening was moved to the wrist. Today, these pre-1960 Master's gowns are often used to represent the Master of Fine Arts degree.
