Description: I rarely do this, but I bought this without knowing what it was. An ashtray? A vase? A toilet paper holder? Whatever. The patina was making me swoon and that was enough for me. But then a gardeny friend came over and freaked out over how beautiful this planter was. Mystery solved. More specifically, this is probably a container where you could put some florist foam in the bottom and create a flower arrangement. I mean, sure. But I'd also hate to cover it up because it's so gorgeous. The details: It's heavy! It's square! It's probably ceramic even though it looks and kinda feels like metal. It might have been made by a company called Haeger back in the 1950s, but I wouldn't swear to that. No defects that I can find. The vibe: Elegant simplicity. Metallic awesomeness. Understated design that lets the patina do all the talking ... and that patina has a lot to say. Like I said, I wouldn't want to hide this under a flower arrangement. I styled it up in the photos with a few more ideas of what you could do with it. Or you could put nothing in it and just let it beam awesomeness all over your room. That would also be an excellent plan.
