Description: This vase is simply stunning and has all the hallmarks and artistry of Murano glass. The lattice and ribbon designs are very delicate and controlled, which really highlights the knowledge and skill of the vase's maker. It has the letter "M" engraved on the bottom of the piece, which I tried to show in the photos. This piece is special in so many ways and would make a wonderful gift for someone who collects glass or truly appreciates the craftsmanship and beauty of a handmade piece of art! I also wanted to include a little information about the specific technique used to make the designs you see in the vase. From the Corning Museum of Glass website: "Zanfirico - (Italian) A type of polychrome cane made by assembling a bundle of rods of different colors, and heating it until it is soft. The bundle is then attached to two pontils and elongated by drawing. At the same time, the bundle is twisted to produce a spiral pattern. Zanfirico, which is a synonym for vetro a retorti, takes its name from the Venetian dealer Antonio Sanquirico, who, in the 1830s, encouraged the revival on Murano of this and other traditional techniques." Dimensions (approximate): 6" tall x 3 1/2" wide at widest point x 1-1/2" diameter mouth x 2 1/4" diameter base. Condition: There are some included bubbles throughout the vase, but no outer surface damage that i could detect.
