Description: This is a set of a letter and a promotional pamphlet from the WWII era, addressed to a Mr. J, Luntz. The letter is from The American Pad &Textile co. The letter tells Mr. J. Luntz that TAPATCO doesn't manufacture the life preserver suit that he was referring to in his previous letter. This letter features a beautiful lithograph of the TAPATCO fatory. The American Pad & Textile Co., was founded in 1881. Throughout its historic history, it employed an average of 300 people. During WWII, the company employed 1,000 employees, mainly women, who made a variety of products that ranged from sleeping bags to stay-a-float child's swimming belt. The pamphlet is from Cluff Fabrics. The booklet shows in great detail the variety of live saving products for all ages that Cluff Fabric products offers. Oddly enough TAPATCO and Cluff Fabrics fought a long court battle during the course of the war. The lawsuit came over a patents over a Navy suit that was being duplicated without consent. Mr. Luntz might have been snooping around to make sure that some of things he was working on, weren't already being sold. The lot also has both of the original envelopes these two documents came in. The pamphlet also comes with a letter, claiming that it doesn't make a certain life preserver suit. If you have any questions or would like addition photos don't hesitate to reach out.
