It is in fact a unique reference number listed on all Perry Ellis apparel. I have owned the sweater since it was purchased, I can't be sure but I believe from either Von Maur, or Younkers, both being midwest based department store chains. Younkers is no longer in business. So I have given you a decent pedigree for this large houndstooth woven rayon and cotton sweater. Although it says dry clean only, you can safely hand or delicate wash and lay out on "white" towels for air dry. You can simply block and stretch lightly. . I was a certified professional dry cleaner for 24 years. Yes, I know that method is not drycleaning. The condition of the sweater is very good. I have searched online and in hardcover design books and folios, my sister a Fashion/Apparel Design major, MA in Theater and Set design has not spotted it. To come to a point, I have not found anything exactly like this large pattern houndstooth. You may only be interested in this sweater, for one reason, that being, you absolutely know it is a Perry Ellis Portfolio sweater and could care less about the missing tag. Or, you find it unique and bright and simply die to see it worn, by yourself, or a close acquaintance. Ask questions, the photos don't do justice.
