Description: I have been informed this is probably Rito weaving from the Cook Islands or possibly Marshall Islands. A beautiful hat made with traditional Polynesian Micronesia weaving techniques. Type of lauhala? Banal? Hibiscus? Regardless, masterful weaving. Interspersed are some purple strands for a nice contrast. And nice technique with how edge is done. And that shell haku lei!!! Inside circumference is 21 3/8." Excellent vintage condition. Bought in the South Pacific or Micronesia in the 1970s or 80s. Never worn. Being sold in its lovely and charming as is condition.
