Grimes has signed his card in bold, sharp, blue ballpoint pen. There is a very small, minor paperclip impression at the very top right corner for the card, otherwise, fine. This card has been meticulously maintained and preserved in a protective plastic folder so as not to be exposed to light or other damaging outside elements. Burleigh Arland Grimes was an American professional baseball player and manager, and the last pitcher officially permitted to throw the spitball. Grimes made the most of this advantage, as well as his unshaven, menacing presence on the mound. He was inducted into the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame in 1964. Burleigh Grimes died on 12/6/1985 at the age of 92. A splendid signature example of this storied Hall of Famer!
