The Art Deco period (1919-1939) in art history and design inspired this reintroduction in the 1980's of Homer Laughlin's original design for this tea pot first introduced in the 1940's characterized by its sphere shape, ringed handle, recessed spout, and the Saturn rings surrounding the lid below the lifting knob on top of the lid, below the lid on its shoulders, and around the base on this fine example of Laughlin's earlier line of large tea pots and all characteristics of the Art Deco period. And Homer Laughlin was the founder of Fiestaware as well. Fiesta produced a tiny child's tea pot, a medium tea pot, and this large 40 ounce pot throughout its exitance and in America a standard coffee cup holds eight ounces or 1 cup and a tea cup holds six ounces a little less than a cup. So, this 40 ounce tea pot will serve approximately six ounces of tea in six 6 ounce cups the American standard. The tea pot measures 7" tall X 9" from spout to handle X 2 3/4" in diameter across the opening at the top X 4 1/4" in diameter across the bottom and this item is in 'mint' condition.
