Description: Here we have a Vintage S. MAW SON & SONS 10 cc Glass & Metal Syringe w/ Storage Tube. George Maw, from Lincolnshire, in 1807 started a partnership with his wife’s cousin Hornby in Fenchurch Street. In 1814, he set up for himself by purchasing the business of a surgical instrument maker in Whitecross Street. In 1825, he moved the business to 56 Aldersgate Street where his sons John Hornby and Solomon joined him. Solomon brought in his son Charles in 1860 and the business became S. Maw and Son. The company operated primarily from 1807 – 1901 before being taken over by a large international supplier. (RECORD). They were suppliers of surgical instruments, appliances, aseptic hospital furniture, surgical dressings, etc. The glass barrel is marked S. MAW SON & SONS. The metal plunger button is marked: RECORD MAW LONDON. There are no cracks in the glass and the plunger moves up and down in the barrel. Syringe is approx. 4-1/2" long. The syringe came to me in a pasteboard tube but I'm not sure it its the original tube since it seems a little too long. it measures approx. 7" long. ** Please remember to leave Feedback. I will gladly reciprocate. :-)
