Description: This 30-year-old Sony ICF-S70 SHOWER MATE is a Water Resistant Shower Radio made in Japan in 1994. It is approximately 205MM wide X 134MM tall X 62MM deep. It was sold in the Japanese market, and some of the labels on the radio are in Japanese only. All of the knobs are sealed to keep soap and water out of the radio. It would make a great gift for yourself or a friend! The button on the top turns the radio on and off. It turns off automatically after an hour to save the batteries.The upper knob on the right side is the tuning knob. The lower knob is the volume knob. The radio is in very good condition. There are no cracks, burns, or dents on any exterior surface. There are no signs of battery leakage. It is a beautiful Snow White color. The cabinet is very clean, with no sign of soap scum or cleaning product residue from use in the shower. There are no water marks or significant scratches. This radio uses three standard C-Cell 1.5 Volt batteries. It covers the AM frequency range from 540KC to 1600KC, and the FM frequency range from 88.0 MHz and to 108.0 MHz. In Japan, this frequency range overlapped their VHF TV audio band. This is why the band is called FM/TV on the radio knob label. The radio plays strong stations clearly and with good volume on both AM and FM. The volume control moves easily without producing static as it turns.The tuning control also moves easily without producing static as it turns.The tuning indicator lights up when the signal is the strongest. There is no earphone jack since it is not appropriate in the shower.The external antenna lives in the battery compartment. It is deployed by hanging it outside the compartment.
