It is marked on the curler "Pat. No. 2153133 Made in USA". This patent was issued April 4, 1939. It measures 6-1/4" long, the barrel is 1/2" wide, has a button mechanism at the end and a spring loader in the slit opening on the side. According to the patent (read online about it), it is for curling locks and shooting a hair pin from the loaded tool into the curl to hold in place. I am not sure exactly how this works. I do not have any of the hair pins. The red enamel handle has some red paint missing. No rust and the spring is still in place. Happy bidding!
