Description: The title of this beautiful Mads Stage wildlife print is "Anas Crecca" and it is an open edition print, signed by Mads Stage, artist. Mads Stage (1922 - 2004) was a highly regarded Danish illustrator and artist with a highly recognizable, captivating style and worldwide following (even before the internet!) While he specialized in cityscapes and landscapes, he drew inspiration from the Danish countryside and also produced illustrations of animals and birds. His prints remain popular and highly collectible today. I do not know the exact age of this print, but estimate 1970's - early 1980's based on the style and color scheme. This wonderful print was part of an estate and features a single teal duck swimming in a blind on a lake (or pond) amongst reedy grass and a small branch. The print has a neutral/earthy color palette, aside from the rust and bright teal markings on the duck. A light mushroom-beige wide outer matte with narrow interior chocolate brown matte complement the earth tones in the print. It is framed with a traditional-style solid wood frame that is stained a medium chestnut color. This appears to have been a custom frame, and at some point, the brown paper that normally covers the back has been pulled away, However, this does not affect the appearance or quality of the print and it is still very securely mounted in the frame (see photos). It measures about 23 inches tall and is 19 inches wide (framed), portrait configuration, a nice medium / almost large size.The print is in very good condition - no stains, spots, holes or tears. The matting is in great condition with no stains, spots, holes, or tears. The frame has some minor scuffing, consistent with age, but is also in good condition. The cardboard covering on the back of the piece has some dings and small tears, but this does not effect the picture. The glass is in good condition - no chips or cracks.
