It opens and lock firmly into place, but has a slight blade play. The tang is stamped ' VALOR #15118 " with " JAPAN " on the Pile side. it is 5 5/8 inches long wnwhen closed. These had been imported into Miami, U.S.A. in the 1970's till now and have had them made in Germany, Japan, and Pakistan over the years.
