It has a magnetic base that can be placed anywhere around the globe allowing you to direct the light at any angle you want. It is amazingly compact and gives beautiful uplight illumination on artwork like statues and plants. I have had it for some 25 years acquiring it from an estate sale in Lake Forest, IL but it is time to let it go. As small as it is it always gets compliments. It isn't in perfect condition as there are a few paint chips along the bulb opening and maybe a few smudges but nothing that detracts from the dramatic statement or makes. I have a spotlight in it and I will include it. It is a std size bulb base. A nearly 8 foot power cord allows for a variety of placements.
