Use the included Wavemagnet antenna for local AM.For the Shortwave Bands, the telescoping antenna does work for very strong signals, but an outside wire antenna is really needed for optimum performance. All tubes are NOS or if not, at least test "as new" on my Hickok 6000 tester. Will also work on battery if you have or can construct the necessary DC voltages. It actually works better if you can run DC. The original Selenium rectifier tests fine and will work on DC, no Diode modification was done, other than new caps, it all original. Ships CONUS Only
