Description: Vitis rotundifolia is an amazing choice for a native edible plant! Grapes are super sweet and plants begin to produce abundantly after several years. Muscadine grapes were one of the first cultivated native plants here in the southeast. This is not your ordinary muscadine grape!! This is a cold hardy variety of muscadine with genetics from the mountains of Rabun County, Georgia, These muscadine plants can survive very cold winters compared with most muscadine commercially sold. Muscadine is dioecious, meaning you may end up with a male or female vine. Female vines may be imperfect or perfect self pollinating, while male vines may potentially be sterile. Muscadine grows better in native soil with accumulated organic matter, as opposed to most other grape varieties which prefer mineral soil exposure. *We do not ship non-carnivorous plants west of the Mississippi.*Standard shipping for live plants is bare root procedure. If you are located within the North Carolina Department of Agriculture's Fire Ant Quarantine zone you may qualify for potted shipping. If you would prefer potted shipments please notify us via email.
