Description: My mother bought these souvenir mini postcards probably in the early 1930's as there's one mini card that had a big sign for Rudy Vallee appearing at the Steel Pier! The cards are really good shape with sharp corners. The mailer has seen better days as the left hand side is torn and there's scuff marks at the folds (loss of silver printing ink). The address side is a bit dirty. One card reads: FOUNTAIN OF LIGHT, ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. The Fountain of Light was dedicated May 31, 1929 commemorating the 75th anniversary of the founding of Atlantic City, also the 50th anniversary of Thomas A. Edison's discovery of the incandescent lamp. It is of unusual beauty and by unique lights of waterfalls at various levels, the effect is a blaze of many colored, swiftly blending cascades. Another card reads: HOTEL TRAYMORE, ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. The Traymore Hotel history dates back well over 50 years. It had the first elevator on Absecon Island, as well as the first artesian well. Great rooms for receptions, dances and banquets. Its charm lies in its broad sundecks and covered promenades overlooking the ocean.
